Batocera Heroic c++ Visual missing
Hello 👋
I searched the whole YouTube and reddit forum but no answer to my problem yet.
I using batocera and Heroric launcher.
Some Games run out of the box, others I wasted hours over hours with no results.
My problem is :
Microsoft Visual c++Runtime.
Winetricks is not working in Batocera Heroric : zenity not installed.
GameMode also not installed.
I try to download c++ from Microsoft adding as non steam game to steam and run in experimental mode-> not working.
Also Wineglass Präfix winetricks c++ 2022 DLL not working for heroic.
I rly need help 😢
I only found solutions for full Linux distribution but not for batocara.
I'm a realy Linux noob but all I found didn't work for me.

Zenity shouldn't be required to install verbs with Winetricks. Please do send in a log file after:
1. Opening the settings of an affected game
2. Clicking the "Winetricks" button
3. Waiting for Heroic to load the list of verbs (you'll see "Done" twice in the output)
4. Searching for "vcrun2022"
5. Clicking "Install"
6. Letting it run until it completes/errors

Hi, i see "done" twice but when I try to open the list nothing happens.
I tryed it multiple times after reinstall heroric, reboot etc.
It will not open :/

so when you type vcrun in thee search box, nothing appears?

Thank you for your comment. I can find vcrun using the search in winetricks. However, when I press install, it says "done" after just a second without an installation window opening. When I then try to start the game, I get the error message "Microsoft visual c++ is missing" again.

Now I did a fresh install of Heroic, also deleted all wine folders bevore and get this :

Vcrun 2015 is installed but I need 2022 then it says again my wine version is not supported, but I got wine-ge-last 04.02.2024. There is no newer version or?

I like batocera for emulation.
It would be a dream also to play actually Games in one System.
It's all running very well, only new games like tekken 8 won't start because of vcrun.
I really hope to find a fix.
Are you using the Flatpak version of Heroic now? If you aren't, do that

I would try termdisc's suggestion
retropie / e,ulation station works great with a stright install on ubuntu based distros I am the same, im running linux mint. The install is pretty painless instructions on the websote

yeah i mean its pretty easy to install emulators on any system you want? its not like batocera is somehow magically good at emulation compared to other distros...

I tried Heroric via Flatpack, among other things, but always got the same error. In particular I was able to start Tekken8 via the Roms Windows folder. Heroric would still be awesome because of Epic, Gog, etc
Of course I can install the emulators under any system Linux, Windows etc but Batocera on its own SSD with (Grub) boot manager feels like a gaming console that can be controlled completely with a controller, which is super awesome if you have the PC in addition to the screen connected to a TV. Controlling the PC from the couch in gaming mode via controller is awesome!

There are OSes like bazzite and chimeraos which should emulate that gaming console feel with more freedom over your system if you go beyond the "console" menu (game mode). I don't want to derail too much from this support post since I'm not that familiar with batocera but there's a couple of videos on YouTube covering bazzite now (retrogamecorp and digital foundry are a good pair to watch).

Thank you very much for the tips 🙂 I know both retrogamecorp and digital foundry! very good YouTube channels. I'll take a look! For me, Batcoera is brilliant as an all-in-one solution for emulation. But since it's my main PC with a 3080ti or soon 50xx, I don't want to miss out on current games and that's why I ended up with Heroric.
