Jobs and Workers
I want my PC to do the microservices work.
But I can't seem to figure out how to apply the Split Worker lines into the docker-compose.yml
I made a 2nd server on my PC.
I added the text to the docker-compose.yml
(probably wrong)
ports:
2283:2283
environment:
IMMICH_WORKERS_INCLUDE: 'API-NAS server'
immich-microservices:
container_name: immich_microservices
environment:
IMMICH_WORKERS_EXCLUDE: 'API-PC-server'

- redis
- database

I have...
1. :blue_square: verified I'm on the latest release(note that mobile app releases may take some time).
2. :blue_square: read applicable release notes.
3. :blue_square: reviewed the FAQs for known issues.
4. :blue_square: reviewed Github for known issues.
5. :blue_square: tried accessing Immich via local ip (without a custom reverse proxy).
6. :blue_square: uploaded the relevant information (see below).
7. :blue_square: tried an incognito window, disabled extensions, cleared mobile app cache, logged out and back in, different browsers, etc. as applicable

where did this line come from?
I try to understand the Jobs-worker document

notice the difference between
I interpret it as the 'api' there I have to fill in my API code from settings?
no. Just
api
But how does it interact between the PC and the NAS. If I don't have to put the API code or IP:port
Through the postgres and redis containers that you connect it to
is this for initial onboarding? If you're running HDDs (especially at 5400 rpm) it's quite possible that you're IOPS bound and not CPU bound, in which case running remote microservices will make a negligible difference
That's what you said yesterday. But today I checked my dashboard and my drives don't even come close to capacity. They do like 20-30% of the reading and writing speed.
Only when starting the docker container they go to 100% for a short moment then go back to 20-30%
IOPS is different than transfer speed
Sorry if my questions are stupid, I just don't understand the entire linux/docker composition. And got it all working, but the jobs just take too long. That's why I was looking into the Jobs & Workers way.
How can I check that?
what model of hdds are you using?
5400rpm: ~50-100 IOPS
7200rpm: ~75-150 IOPS

This is just when I start the immich_server and have all the jobs on.

your drives looked maxed...
So there is no way I can do all the calculating work on my PC where I have good specs and SSD's. And later move all this to the NAS.
Because it's only now, with the start that it needs all the computing power to get the thumb-metadata-face detection-etc etc etc.
