"No Video with supported format and MIME type found" in Firefox but same video plays fine on Chrome

Title is pretty self explanatory. Both browsers did not have any extensions and I'm using default settings as well.

Firefox probably can't play the codec. What's the format? Ff is notoriously bad with hevc

By default we transcode hevc to x264, so i suspect you have changed some settings

I've run into this same problem myself many times. Glad I finally found the answer. I don't recall having changed any settings about transcoding, but I'll take a look. Thanks!

I have this message for every video I open in firefox, I had the settings on default when the transcoding was complete. They do work on my iphone through the immich app, and they also work on Chrome on desktop like others have reported. Is there anything I can check to make it work with firefox? I can post my settings if needed, but again I changed them once the transcoding finished and I saw it wasnt working on FF on desktop.

It should have transcoded the videos. PCM audio is passed through and not transcoded by default, so that might be why they can’t play on firefox You can check with ffprobe

@mertalev thank you. I want to leave a comment which will help the next person who searches this, but I cant. I restarted docker and my computer a few times. I went back into the jobs and saw that there were suddenly 9,000 jobs again. Which was confusing. I reset the transcoding settings back to default, by using the reset to default link and saved. Then shortly after I noticed some of the videos were viewable via firefox, and once the job was at 0, all my videos now are viewable Im sure that doesnt help much, but safe to say the apps transcoding works. Why it didnt work the first time it ran, is beyond me. Maybe it never ran?
