Brochure needed 1) WHAT: The dangerous situation 2) WHY: the stakes 3) HOW: pause = realistic hope
We should really aim to reach a much much greater audience with our message, and for that we need really clear and easy to understand information material I think alongside the work to organize and mobilize strong national chapters. I belive a visually engaging and more easy to understadn version of thecompendium. My codename for this is "The Dangerous Situation" There could be a website version with interactive graphics and lots of imagery, a video version (bring in Lethal Intelligence, and Pindex yoututbe channel team maybe). The compendium is very text-heavy and is hard to get into peoples tick-tock feeds.
Main outline idea:
1) Understand what is going on (what is the dangerous situation)
2) Understanding what is at stake (why do we care? Make it as universal as possible - something not tied to a particular nation ideology, but that is the essential universal things that most humans tend to value the highest (like seing children growing up to )
3) Providing sufficient realistic hope as to how humanity can get out of the dangerous situation that enough people will take personal action (how can we save the future together through a coordinated pause )
In sum this consitutes wisdom, insight, remembering what universal things we humans love and care for the most - > getting motivated to pursue with great effort and enthusiasm the best actions to protect our common future.
And then actually saving all that we care the most about!
1) is enlightenment era types of rational knowledge and fact based work.
2) is more of perspective and value oriented
3) is acting effectively and wise with with both mind and heart being in coherrence.
Up until now AI safety communities are super focused on the 1) and that will not be sufficient to win this.
