Is Heroic supposed to eat up a lot of battery?

I use Heroic on my M1 MacBook Pro (16GB RAM, 2020 model), and during the day I play approximately 1 hour of Rocket League. My battery goes from 100% to 0% in this singular hour, and my laptop is usually dead by noon. I close all background applications except for stuff that I need to keep open (today it was Firefox and Inkscape). Is this normal, and if it isn't, is there anything I can do to decrease the amount of battery that Heroic is eating up?

well translating x86 to arm isnt a very efficient so you have to expect the computer to put more power into running programs like games that arent meant for the system

just have a plug when you play because then you dont have to use your battery which can help reduce your battery cycles

Yes windows does have a arm version but that doesnt mean all aplications are arm based

thats why people say the new snapdragon X elite is bad for gaming because it runs on arm64 like the m processors

i would still recomend playing these games pluged in because your computer battery is quite old and you dont want to go from 100-0 repetitively

the thing using the battery life is not heroic, it's the game

when heroic launches a game, it pretty much gives control of how to run the game to gptk/crossover/wine, so if a game uses a lot of battery there's not really anything heroic can do to prevent that

you can try changing settings in the game itself, maybe reduce quality, check if it has battery saving modes, etc, but it's a game by game thing

on most systems, games consume "high amounts of power" like, for example, on a full blown desktop with a fancy GPU, you'd expect to pull 400+ watts

a steam deck or similar can easily use 28 watts playing games.

When you play games that demand that kinda wattage from the system (i think m1 mbp's max out at 28watts) for even just an hour, on a 70Wh battery that's like 40% of your battery.
