How are pants supposed to fit these days?

I lost about thirty pounds over the last year, right around the same time pants cuts were trending dramatically baggier. This has created a situation where I'll try on a new pair of pants and be unable to tell whether I need to size down, or if this is just how they're supposed to fit now. Is there an infographic or something that shows how to judge fit in baggier cuts?
