Performance issues with Tmodloader
Hey, so i am playing terraria with my friend on a server hosted by Nodecraft. We are playing with quite a few mods and for some reason my computer completely lags out when we are fighting any boss with a bunch of projectiles. Now I have internet speeds of 40mbs down and 7 up, and my computer specs are the following:
Device name MSI
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 7 155H 3.80 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable)
Device ID 040D3027-2032-465E-BA69-3493842874B1
Product ID 00342-21170-64625-AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display
My friend is using the following:
Apple M3 chip with 8‑core CPU, 8‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine
16GB unified memory
256GB SSD storage
13.6-inch Liquid Retina display with True Tone²
1080p FaceTime HD camera
MagSafe 3 charging port
Two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports
30W USB-C Power Adapter
Backlit Magic Keyboard with Touch ID — US English
Now his computer his computer runs fine but mine goes down to essentially slideshow frames. Now this is where it gets interesting I have heard that laptops with Nvidia graphics cards only use integrated graphics on tmodloader, and i have changed those settings in my nvidia control panel, but this is where it gets wierd, My gpu always caps out at 30% when the game is open, and it only ever really uses the gpu truly when i am outside of the game, as soon as i alt tab into the game I'm getting around 10% - 20% and outside it uses all of the 30% why is this happening please help :tragedy:

Welcome to #support-forum. Before someone helps you, please first consult the information in #TML Troubleshooting Guide and try all the suggestions that might fit your particular issue, especially in the linked FAQ page.
If the information in the pinned thread does not solve your issue, please post all log files by dragging and dropping them into this chat. In Steam right click on
tModLoader
in the library, then hover over Manage
and click on Browse local files
. In the folder that appears find tModLoader-Logs
and open that folder. Inside that folder are the logs files. Select them all except the Old
folder and drag them into this chat. If you need a visual guide to this process watch this: https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/assets/4522492/3f4efa43-753f-4733-b630-ba85e711340cmagic-amberOP•6mo ago

Are you experiencing FPS drops, low FPS, or laggy singleplayer gameplay?
DirectX on Windows may not be working properly and might be causing these issues.
Try using OpenGL using the launch argument in Steam as shown here: https://gyazo.com/a572f60f32424ac1bdbdebb68ead5043

Honestly you could aleviate this somewhat by increasing netdot's processor elevation in task manager
1. Open task manager
2. Right click '.NET Host', then click 'go to details'
3. under 'Details', right click 'dotnet.exe', then click 'Set Priority' and set it to High, or Real Time.
