On tModloader I have Music at 1% but its so much louder than my stock terraria Music at 10%. Sliding the sound bar does not affect anything.

Welcome to #support-forum. Before someone helps you, please first consult the information in #TML Troubleshooting Guide and try all the suggestions that might fit your particular issue, especially in the linked FAQ page.
If the information in the pinned thread does not solve your issue, please post all log files by dragging and dropping them into this chat. In Steam right click on
tModLoader
in the library, then hover over Manage
and click on Browse local files
. In the folder that appears find tModLoader-Logs
and open that folder. Inside that folder are the logs files. Select them all except the Old
folder and drag them into this chat. If you need a visual guide to this process watch this: https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/assets/4522492/3f4efa43-753f-4733-b630-ba85e711340cfascinating-indigoOP•6mo ago
Can you disable all mods, then close and reopen the game? If you do that, does the music volume slider still not affect anything?

Nope still does not affect the music. It does make the sound that comes out when hovering over text or icons lower though. It just does not affect the music
Sorry the music slider does affect the music volume, it's just very loud at 100% and normal volume at 1%
I was talking about the sound slider here
That's really odd, I've never come accross this issue before. I didn't see any resource packs in your logs, but you can try verifying game integrity of both Terrarria and tModLoader in steam, it's possible some file related to the audio has been changed.
You can also test headphones vs speakers, see if the music not scaling is related to the audio device.

I play on speaker and launching terraria the audio is perfect, tmodloader is mad loud. I tried this fix: https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/issues/2863#issuecomment-1221975856
Didn't help and made me lag so I had to verify game files to restore old files.

Not sure what else I can try
One other thought I had is maybe your config.json file is bad, you can try renaming it to config_backup.json and launching the game, which would reset all settings

One thing I noticed is everytime I put music to 0 it resets the main menu theme to the start?
nvm the same happens in vanilla
