I will play with this, as I was looking at this recently. I would love to be able to import tides data in a way that I can write it to Influx DB/Grafana and then overlay it on actual depth curves I see; so I can work out the local difference more accurately.

Yes! I want tide data in influx to be able to normalize my depth readings to MLLW/chart datum.
That's actually what got me using SignalK again recenty. We use Navionics sonar charts and have our NMEA data connected to we can see our past readings. Well, recently we were going through a shallow cut and my phone died, so I grabbed my tablet and realized that navionics only shows your past reads on that device, even though they are clearly syncing your data so they can use it and improve the charts, it doesn't sync between your devices.
Yeah, it sucks that it doesn't sync between your own devices
I really want to get a depth sounder for my dink for exactly this reason so I can drive around in tight areas and find the deep spots
Or pre-run through cuts and record the depths in Navionics
You could also create a plugin that generated map tiles from your influx db depth data. POtentially in real-time/on the fly.
That would be pretty cool.
Nice! I bought SonarPhone (https://store.vexilar.com/products/sonarphone/products.html) to install in the dinghy, but found out it stopped syncing with Navionics. So I ended up just installing a simple sounder. Nice to have, but would love to have the data
I also have a similar use case. I have a depth sounder for my dinghy to make custom maps or to scout routes with. Getting away from vendor lock in would be great.
@Hoeken What depth sounder do you have now?
