Open applications closing after waking from sleep

The past couple of weeks when I wake my PC from sleep any open applications(steam, web browser, solaar, etc) will close. The best way I can describe it is its like when windows explorer crashes and reopens. I'm new to linux in general so I'm not sure if its the NVidia GPU or if its something else causing the issue.
