"Userdata directory not found" Then where the peak am I?

I installed Slime rancher successfully but when I tried to add it to steam from the app it gave me an error, after re-configuring it to my actual userdata folder for steam it still gives me this error! btw I censored my username cause it's my real name even though I told the person setting it up to NOT set it to my real name and I don't want to reinstall my entire Ubuntu set up AGAIN to change my username

putting aside that you really should not be using the Snap version of Steam, if you're using the flatpak version of Heroic, you don't have permissions to that folder as the snap-based folder isn't in the default permissions

Valve is seeing an increasing number of bug reports for issues caused by Canonical's repackaging of the Steam client through snap. The best way to install Steam on Debian and derivative operating systems is to follow the instructions at github.com/ValveSoftware/steam… and use the official .deb We are not involved with the snap repackaging. It has a lot of issues. If you don't want the .deb, please at least consider the flatpak version. #steam #ubuntu #snap #flatpak

maybe you can open flatseal and give heroic access to that directory, and it will maybe work then but for sure flatpak or native steam is better

So how do I swap to the flatpack version? The app itself is easy but I have a few games installed plus all of my source games for Gmod content and a bunch of other stuff and im not sure how to transfer that, do I just have ti reinstall everything again?

You can probably just copy everything from that steam/ folder into its proper home ~/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/... once you're set up. exact folder paths are going to need to be seen when you get there that's what I did jumping between flatpak and native installs just make sure all the same folders are present before you start moving things around
