Rocket League Sonoma M1 Air

I'm struggling to get Rocket League to run. - Mac OS Sonoma, Macbook Air M1 - Heroic native MacOS version - Tried various wine + game porting toolkit versions (latest Game Porting Toolkit seemed most promising) - At various points i was able to at least see the Game Icon appear in the dock and then disappear after a few seconds, now I don't even manage to see that anymore - Game is installed on exFat 4TB external M2 drive Any ideas / help? It seems like I broke something which at least used to make the game icon appear. Should I remove all game porting toolkits installed via Heroic and re-add them? I also tried resetting the default prefix folder via terminal via rm -rf "/Users/mo/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/default/Rocket League"

can you try running the game on your main drive? just out of curiousity because rocket league definitely works with gptk on a sonoma m1

i do sincerely think the external drive might be the problem here you might be able to shove 32 from your main to the external?

gptk isnt working on mine either im on an m1 pro i played just 5 minuited ago then i restarted and it stopped woeking working it said game version out of sync or something i think we need to force update @Mo you know how?

yes i did that yesterday already, i don't think its the issue for me, but i will force update again later if i still struggle after moving it to the local drive

i thinkl you need to change install path to move the game files first(?) its been a while since i moved a game i usually just uninstall the files and reinstall them LOL

i guess i will copy it manually and try to point my installation there or have it trying to install it there, hopefully that way it won't try to redownload everything 100 GB of system files on a 256 GB disk.. so fun 🫠

i was able to just "import" it from the new location. but it still says "playing" but no game / game icon appears 😭 using latest GPTK

thats so odd ❓ im so confused why its not huh. the only thing i could say is maybe try verify/repair gamefiles or a full re-install but i know that's not the most viable for you right now on vacation wifi

can you completely delete the folder your wine prefix is in so you can start fresh?

this is what i constantly do with rm -rf "/Users/mo/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/default/Rocket League it then reinstalls EPIC redistributables upon first launch attempt i also tried removing heroic and reinstalled, but it seems it kept all settings in my library, i guess i have to wipe that stuff manually for a clean uninstall / reinstall?

SteamDB shows the depots as including vcrun2022, not 2015. d3dcompiler_47 is for DX9 based games.

whatever i do, seems i can't make the game icon reappear in the dock, its weird that i used to have at least that little success but now i don't even get that far anymore

I am very confused, to be honest LOL the only thing I can think of posing an issue is your OS version but it shouldn’t be a factor can you switch to wine-crossover latest with dxvk, just to make sure it isn’t your os version being a nuisance?

Updating to Sequoia also changed nothing 😬 Loading Wine Crossover and taking another shot.. Feels like i have to nuke the complete system to start from a clean slate but i'm not ready for that (yet).. maybe this is a missing piece? finding this inside the heroic log:

huh. looks like something is screwed up with the eos overlay(?) this entire situation is so bizarre to me i genuinely have almost never seen half of these log errors LOL i genuinely have 0 clue what is wrong with your rocket league, someone more experienced might be able to save you though 🙏🏼

i also wonder about this error in the legendary log - it keeps popping up:

btw i fixed that by adding the PATH entries so winetricks can find 7zip.. chatgpt was also a huge helper for debugging this mess 😅 seems like i already managed to break sth.. 🤦‍♂️ tried to activate anti aliasing, then the game froze.. Tried deleting TASystemSettings.ini so it recreates a default one but it still freezes on the start screen 😭 anyone happens to have a stable settings file for a Macbook M1 Air running Rocket League on Game Porting Toolkit latest? 😅

it used to use composited, now it says direct and freezes on first frame and i dont know how to get it back to running

for whatever reason the game hangs on start now every time, even if i remove the config folder and repair the game. i don't know why its not running as it did earlier

ok, i was able to restore the original rendering behaviour. the key was not to delete the config folder, but the cache and the log folders gotta admit although its running on 80 fps according to the overlay, it does not feel super smooth is this due to using GPTK latest? should i use sth else? but then again, this might just be me, also not used to gaming on a mac and having only mouse + keyboard right now, normally i play with controller either way i'm pretty happy it is running now 🤩 seems like pulling down resolution from native 1680 to sth like 1280 seems to make it feel much more fluid running at +90fps. for some training it should be usable is this covered somewhere in a tut regarding heroic / rocket league setup? i think i have to write down all the stuff that was necessary to get this running, otherwise i will struggle whenever i will try that again on a different machine 😅

oof, i tried copying the game back to my external 4TB disk to save space.. however i keep getting the "ambigous package name" errors there, and opening CookedPCConsole in Terminal and executing "dot_clean ." does not seem to get rid of it. it used to work on my local drive though
