No sound with Heroic on NixOS
I've got Alan Wake II running using the Heroic launcher on NixOS, but no sound. Anyone have a clue what could be needed to get it working? š #š-support

if I had to guess, installing faudio with winetricks might do it though

I got an error uploading the log file per the bot's instructions above. But the log apperas to be uploaded at https://0x0.st/8eOn.log
Thanks for the response @TheGoldenGem... Both of those are new to me. I'll see if I can install them via Nixpkgs

winetricks is in heroic already you just have to go into the games settings next to the play button and scroll down

OK I wiped heroic from my Nix config and installed it via flatpak instead (hoping this had some effect due to higher dependency encapsulation)
No dice so far.

Used the winetricks button in the UI as you suggested, which did... something... and now ther is some audio!
The only issue now is that the audio level is exceptionally low. Less than ideal, but better than nothing (and I don't have to suffer through the pain of creating a Wintendo)
Installed pavucontrol.... found the default output volume for the ".exe" (!!) was set to .25 (%)
Rolled it to 100... and... it's working?

I'm not sure if switching to flatpak from the builtin Nixpkgs Heroic was necessary, but the manual invocation of wiretricks via
the UI plus adjusting audio via pavucontrol seems to have done the trick.
Spent a half of a day trying to get Windows to install on an SSD only to fail
A few hours to get it working on Linux.
Maybe 2025 will be the year of the Linux desktop after all
