Rocket League SMAA Game Won't Start
I'm running rocket league in Heroic with Whisky on my M1 pro macbook.
I was messing around with some graphics settings and changed the anti-aliasing to SMAA, the game instantly crashed and I now can't get past the welcome/loading screen image. I can't change the setting back because of this. I tried to modify the .ini file but can't see this particular setting.
Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix?

which ini did you try to edit?
i have it in
rocketleague/Engine/Config/BaseSystemSettings.ini
no, wait... why is that mobile anti-aliasing?

I can't find it in any of them 😕
I also tried reinstalling and it didn't work, the settings might be attached to the account

I did the EXACT SAME THING today lmao. Same result
Trawling through TASystemSettings.ini and can't find a setting that will fix it. Reinstalling does nothing either, presumably because the settings were backed up or something
So annoying because the game ran buttery smooth until I decided to mess with the settings!
Okay so I FIXED IT, but in a very unconventional way
I could still hear sound, and pressing buttons on my controller gave audible menu feedback sounds, so...
I launched rocket league on Geforce Now (free tier), and took note of the controller inputs I had to do to get to settings, over to the video tab, down to the AA options and then to select the first option, followed by the "apply" button (just in case it does more than change the resolution).
I then followed this order of inputs on the Mac version. Closed the game, relaunched it and...it works!
There's a "default settings" button as well (X) which I just pressed and that resets the AA as well, so if you want the inputs you need to do...

Press A until you hear the little jingle sound it does when you enter the main menu from the title screen.
From here, hit down a bunch until you hear no more sound, those little nudges it does when you move from one option to the next (you've hit the bottom).
From here...

A
This will reset all the settings 🙂

When that occurred did you guys try running game without dxvk or whatever translation for graphics that you were using and getting that issue with?

I tried modifying some settings in the .ini file without any luck. No other changes tried, to test other solutions it's quite easy to put your game in this state - just select Anti alias setting as SMAA

I was just curious about if that is a graphics compat layer not handling it well and which one is that.

you're in the right place, you can't turn it off there if you're using proton
that suggestion is only for wine

They are using Mac, they can only control that if they were using Crossover
Im aware they are not on Linux
