Can't connect to my server the usual way.
I could connect to my server (self hosted) either locally (hostname.local) or through the internet (my public IP).
Why after turning on a VPN and back off, only the latter method of connecting works?

i know some routers won't let you connect to yourself for security reasons. that could be it.
Is there a firewall in the way on your local network?
Some routers may not resolve local domains
Try LAN ip instead
^ or that
Local WAN addresses
due to hairpin NAT
Thatβs possible, but some routers can handle that no problem
Depends on what op is using and how itβs configured I guess
Hairpin does not cause a problem all the time
