Media disappearing from immich

I have an external library, which I'm using as the only media source. The screenshots were taken just after rescanning all libraries.

 Hey @matszwe02, Thanks for reaching out to us. Please carefully read this message and follow the recommended actions. This will help us be more effective in our support effort and leave more time for building Immich :immich:. The exact details needed vary per case, but here is a list of things to consider: - Your docker-compose.yml and .env files. - Logs from all the containers and their status (see above). - All the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. - Any recent changes you've made to Immich or your system. - Details about your system (both software/OS and hardware). - Details about your storage (filesystems, type of disks, output of commands like fdisk -l and df -h). - The version of the Immich server, mobile app, and other relevant pieces. - Any other information that you think might be relevant. Please paste files and logs with proper code formatting, and especially avoid blurry screenshots. Without the right information we can't work out what the problem is. Check your trash

matszwe02OP•3w ago
ok, I see, everything is in trash. I click on the "restore all", but nothing happens

you need to check your external library mount point, see if it is still there. Then you can rescan the library to put them back

mount point still there here's my configuration, maybe I miss something

And you can exec into the docker container, and see that the files exist still?
Alex Tran
Alex Tran•3w ago
how do you mount your NAS_DIR?
matszwe02
matszwe02OP•3w ago
ok, now I see it. Docker doesn't see anything in these paths

it's a mount point
Alex Tran
Alex Tran•3w ago
I meant did you mount it with a umount command or an entry in fstab?
matszwe02
matszwe02OP•3w ago
is it possible that it unmounted briefly and docker can't use it anymore? umount
Alex Tran
Alex Tran•3w ago
it is possible that network mount can be unmounted due to network interruption then it won't automatically remount if the server/vm restarting
matszwe02
matszwe02OP•3w ago
that's local, usb drive
Alex Tran
Alex Tran•3w ago
you need an entry in /etc/fstab to get it auto mounted usb drive also have auto sleep mechanism so you should check that
matszwe02
matszwe02OP•3w ago
thanks, I'll keep that in mind when I'll be rewriting things 🙂 I think I have everything set up properly with mounting, but yeah, restarting docker container should help
Alex Tran
Alex Tran•3w ago
this is a sign that the usb drive might have gone to sleep mode
matszwe02
matszwe02OP•3w ago
ok, rebooting worked! Thanks for the help 🙂 that happens once every a month or so
Alex Tran
Alex Tran•3w ago
so you probably will encounter this in the future again if it is not handled
matszwe02
matszwe02OP•3w ago
yeah, will fstab prevent that from happening?
Alex Tran
Alex Tran•3w ago
fstab will help with automount when the server/vm restarting, I think there is something you can do with preventting the usb drive go to sleep mode. But you should google that
matszwe02
matszwe02OP•3w ago
ok, I basically wrote a script already that does that, but I need to restart that container each time the usb re-mounts. Thanks again 😄
