Stuck on the boot
Stuck on boot
I know I posted about this earlier but I’ve been working on it all day and I’ve learned more but still can’t fix it so I was hoping with the new information I can get help fixing this
So I woke up this morning and I found I couldn't get past the boot screen the logo and the rotating gear of KDE Neon appeared as well as the cursor but the screen stays the same I'm waiting for something to happen but nothing appears. I can access tty and I tried to update the system thinking that it’s just a system update that installed wrong overnight so I used
sudo apt update
but it fails to find a few files but didn’t think much because it told me it used older files. Then I ised
sudo pkcon update
but it told me I can’t download packages without whilst offline and I have no clue what’s that means.
I’m using a Acer Nitro-5 laptop and booting from an external hard drive because the one in my laptop is dead

I'd suggest reading the systemd journal (
journalctl -e -b
) to see if any errors stand out. pkcon
may be accurately reporting that you are offline, if you're stuck early in the boot process. you can always try connecting to a network with iwctl
or maybe nm-cli

I tried reading the log but it’s all gibberish in my eyes haha and I don’t know how to connect to the network with nmcil because the networks names are weird so idk what to pick

Errors will be coloured red, warnings yellow. They won't necessarily be the root of your trouble, but could help narrow things down.

I have some pictures of the red and yellow line if you want to look at them I can’t make since of them
