Update: Hotspot from my phone (5GHz) works, might be an issue with the WiFi channel or the SSID

Most commonly this is caused by wrong wifi region on either your rog ally, or your wifi router Pretty much all regions (EU, US) and other countries have their own local laws for wireless regulation. If for some reason your wifi chip is running using the wrong region, you will not be able to connect properly. Especially 5Ghz frequency have some crazy deviations between functionality.

Because 2.4Ghz is pretty much the same universally. Only US doesn't allow channels 12 and 13. 5Ghz is a whole different cake There's some other things that might cause issues: 1) Router using wider channel width than ROG Ally supports 2) Problems with auto-switch of wifi standard in the router It can be a bit of work to figure out what exactly is causing it, you'll have to fiddle with wifi settings on your router such as standard (wifi 5, 6, 7 etc), channel assignment (auto is usually fine), maximum bandwidth (20Mhz, 40Mhz, 80Mhz). Make sure your ROG Ally is running on right region, and if that's correct, it's likely your router. 🙂
