Broken database (I think) makes immich-server not work(?)
First, I don't know if it's related, but my immich instance has been showing that it's transcoding 1 video for the past 2/3 weeks, I never gave it too much attention because things were working. Then somewhere between yesterday and today, it goes offline. I try to bring it up (i'm using docker compose, so docker-compose up) and the 4 containers start, nothing wrong in the logs, but I cannot see the webui. I try to shut it down, but immich-server doesn't want to shutdown. Docker stop/kill don't work, so I kill the process manually. Then the container starts, and the webUI is visible. Then I stopped it (to make sure that the problem is gone), and trying to start it up again fails. No errors in the logs, but the webUI isn't visible.

Information
In order to be able to effectively help you, we need you to provide clear information to show what the problem is. The exact details needed vary per case, but here is a list of things to consider:
- Your docker-compose.yml and .env files.
- Logs from all the containers and their status (see above).
- All the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.
- Any recent changes you've made to Immich or your system.
- Details about your system (both software/OS and hardware).
- Details about your storage (filesystems, type of disks, output of commands like fdisk -l
and df -h
).
- The version of the Immich server, mobile app, and other relevant pieces.
- Any other information that you think might be relevant.
Please paste files and logs with proper code formatting, and especially avoid blurry screenshots.
Without the right information we can't work out what the problem is. Help us help you ;)
If this ticket can be closed you can use the /close
command, and re-open it later if needed.ok, I killed the containers, purged the containers that weren't being used, recreated the containers, and now I see the Transcoding has 'failed'

now I can stop&start Immich without problems
That's strange, I guess
Is there a way to tell him to just immediately stop trying to transcode?
ok it happens again.. still 1 transcode.. and it's blocked like that..

Could you check the logs perhaps
``````
but there isn't anything
Most likely this file is corrupted, it is an android motion photos:
upload/encoded-video/772c815b-0e7d-4a20-947c-cde34f03432f/fa/3f/fa3f96a4-ee63-4617-8e21-f9e3f5ff48bd-MP.mp4
it looks like there are a few
I am not sure what the best way to figure out the source file because the encoded has its own UUID. I am not sure it might be fa3f96a4-ee63-4617-8e21-f9e3f5ff48bd
you can try https://my.immich.app/photos/fa3f96a4-ee63-4617-8e21-f9e3f5ff48bdooh that's cool
you're right
Ok, I've deleted the problematic video, but this still doesn't want to stop transcoding it:
try to restart the containers
also there was two files in your logs
at least
They.. don't quite want to die
you might have to reset the redis container, it does have temp storage i think it's not a mount
I've tried 'docker system prune -a' a couple of times, but nothing really changes
