Force reimporting
I have uploaded many pictures from my iPhone. All the pictures saved from WhatsApp or Telegram have a wrong date (compared to the one showed in Photos gallery). It seems to me that if instead I upload from Apple Photo Library from mac the issue is not there. Is there a way to force the importing even of duplicates? Rerunning metadata extraction does not work!

I don’t think they necessarily work when coming from the Apple library though
Ok. The file has the right date in the creation date, but it does not have any information in the EXIF. The date it get assigned is random to me (always in the future though). DO you have a better idea on how to import properly?
You should add the date to the EXIF
Using exiftool
Oh ok, I was not aware of the possibility. Do you have idea on how the date gets selected if it is not already in the exif?
Upload date I think
Also remove manually all the wrong photos it is a pain, since they are scattered across the library
Thanks for all the infos!
There is a "whatsapp date fixer" around somewhere
because whatsapp files are named for their date
I have just tired to remove manually a file and reupload it from the Apple Library storage and it got the right one, even if no EXIF data was there. Do you have any idea why it is working?
