Need some quick fit check and feedback on this outfit!

Hi all! I lost a bunch of weight and I'm learning how to dress well again. I'm also trying to stop only wearing black. This outfit I think I got the colour combo pretty good, but I was hoping for some general feedback on whether it's a cohesive outfit, and whether the individual pieces fit? I think I need to take in my shirt at the sides and maybe add darting to the back. I'm debating taking up my pants so there's no cuffing. Also wondering if the boots fit with it, or if I should finally invest in some non-boot shoes like derby's or oxfords. This was meant to be a nicer casual outfit, like for a coffee date or drinks, but I worry I might have gone too far into business casual territory. And yes, I'm definitely getting a new belt. Any feedback would be great!

definitely reads business casual. good call on replacing the belt, a slightly thinner one will do. you might not need one at all if the pants fit alright. a little hard to tell from the angles but the pants seem pretty tapered. a straighter fit is more on trend currently (and to my taste personally!) im not convinced you need to get the pants hemmed to that length. that seems short, especially without a boot. unless you’re really married to this shirt, it might not be worth doing the alterations instead of just getting one that fits. the pocket also reads more business casual than a shirt that didn’t have a pocket at all. i would unroll your sleeves a little - one to three turns is good, rolled to the elbow feels a little too uptight. even a roll and push feels more casual. boots are fine if clashing a bit with the shirt in terms of formality. derbies or loafers would be good, i’d skip oxfords in general if you’re trying to dress down. here’s warp today doing shirt pants belt shoes in a fun casual western way today https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1116800072093532191/1364763612073300069 nissan doing an ivy/city boy take in fitbattle https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1353047724303585340/1363390956493209640 art, as usual, crushing a date night appropriate look https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1353047724303585340/1363390682957615154 fishing vest aside, digs doing a version of your fit that feels more cohesive https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1353047724303585340/1363388491584770159

Hey, thank you for such a complete answer! I really appreciate it! I think I'll definitely change the shirt to something a touch more casual, and maybe relegate this one to a work shirt. It was a cheap shirt, so not overly married to it, I just don't really own many OCBD's and wanted to try one. I think I need to get one that's a bit better fitting. In terms of the pants, they're definitely straight cut, but my angle and foot position makes it seem otherwise. Thank you for the reminder though; I've been going for more straight cut pants since I just am not enjoying tapers and how they drape on my body, and it's good to hear I'm on the right track! I think I'll take your advice and skip the oxfords, since yeah, adding more formal elements seems counter to what I'm trying to do. When you say they clash with the shirt in terms of formality, do you mind if I ask what you mean? Like, is it that the boots are more formal than the shirt, or vice versa? I'm thinking of just getting black derbys, since everything I read says that derbys tend to be a lot more casual, and although black seems a lil formal, I feel like it'll be easiest to integrate into my wardrobe. Also, holy heck, the guys you linked me to are very well dressed. I need to start lurking those threads!

Loafers will suit what you want better I think, as kyn mentioned. They work accross the widest range of formalities, far more than derbies or boots. Black doesn't change a shoes formality. The boots are too casual, thats why its clashing with the oxford which reads as a not that casual.
