The One Piece planet is literally the sun, and the moon was the original planet. They ran out of recourses or space and moved everything they had to the sun so they could harness the energy from the fire of the sun. Thats why Joyboy took part in flooding the world by using these ancient weapons so he could prevent others from exploiting these mother flames and to prevent everyone from being set ablaze. Maybe imu wasn't that bad and the only thing they want to prevent is the exploitation to access to the power to controlling the ancient weapons.
