No sound on fresh install
Fresh install of bazzite on a very new pc build: B850 board with a Ryzen 9 9900x. I'm not getting any audio output and audio devices are showing up with chipset names like Family 17h/19h or GA104 in pulse audio or pavucontrol. I've tried a few things to troubleshoot but I'm pretty convinced it's a driver compatibility issue with newer hardware - the analog stereo output profile claims it is unplugged and unavailable

You're using the scarlett solo for audio?
or only as source (mic)?
What specific board is it?
Gigabyte B850 Aorus Elite
Scarlett Solo only for source, I'd like to use mobo audio for sink
what does
alsamixer
(F6 to choose correct device) show when headphones/speakers are plugged in?
specifically at "Speaker" and/or "Headphone" mixers
that's how you know you have the correct device selected
What happens if you type alsactl monitor
and then unplug, and replug your device?this is what i have for alsamixer selecting my motherboard audio

which port are you using?
line out?
headphone jack on the front panel
oh its a front panel
then definitely check alsactl monitor
to see if it detects anything at all
when you unplug or replug
i unplugged and replugged, nothing at all
make sure its connected to the right header on the motherboard
and plugged properly
does audio work on back panel?
i didn't even think to check that
let me see
needs to be connected to F_Audio header
oh yeah, back line out works
yeah def check if F_Audio header has something attached to it
and if its the audio one
it's definitely the case's front panel wire
uisuaslly the case has "HD Audio" or something printed on the cable
the connector
can you make sure its properly inserted?
with the clip stuck at the bottom
and no bent pins etc etc
yeah i'm gonna pop it open rn
after making sure everything is fine and no connector pins are bent check if
alsactl monitor
shows plug in events
Also, might be a good idea to post output of
wpctl inspect
on both Family 17h/19h/1ah HD Audio Controller Pro sinks
just put the number of the sink after inspectyeah, it was the case f_audio cable. One of my fan cables knocked it loose 😒 - sorry to bother you with that
Awesome
No worries
If you still have issues, let me know. Happy to help 🙂
