Help - It seems to have been restored and it's asking me to log in again.
Hello everyone!
We had a nationwide power outage two days ago, and when I logged back into Immich (it's running on a Raspberry Pi 4), it told me to register as the first user to log in, as if everything had been reinstalled.
Is there any way to get back to how it was without having to start over?
Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Information
In order to be able to effectively help you, we need you to provide clear information to show what the problem is. The exact details needed vary per case, but here is a list of things to consider:
- Your docker-compose.yml and .env files.
- Logs from all the containers and their status (see above).
- All the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.
- Any recent changes you've made to Immich or your system.
- Details about your system (both software/OS and hardware).
- Details about your storage (filesystems, type of disks, output of commands like fdisk -l
and df -h
).
- The version of the Immich server, mobile app, and other relevant pieces.
- Any other information that you think might be relevant.
Please paste files and logs with proper code formatting, and especially avoid blurry screenshots.
Without the right information we can't work out what the problem is. Help us help you ;)
If this ticket can be closed you can use the /close
command, and re-open it later if needed. What options do I have?
- Sign up again using the same credentials I had before (both me as the admin and my wife as the user)
- Restore the database backup (although I don't know if this is the best option, which one I should restore, or how to do it). Note: I've attached a screenshot of the contents of the "backups" folder.
- I'd only need to change something small to restore it to how it was.

mnt USB makes me think your postgres database is on the USB, right @juanpeich ?
Have you tried simply doing a compose down + compose up?
I'd say I have it there, although I'm not sure, but I do find Postgres in the folder mounted on the HDD I use to host the photos.
I've breathed again after doing what you told me: "docker compose down" and "docker compose up." Everything is back to where it was before. Doing this, I've noticed it takes quite a while; I'm still waiting for "docker compose up" to finish.
I've never done this command before. For updates, I always ran the "docker compose pull" and "docker compose up" commands, and it was much faster.

docker compose up
without any flags doesn't finish, it attaches to the containers
You probably usually use it with the -d
flagIt's because docker has auto-started before your USB stick was mounted
That's exactly what happened. I forgot to put -d, which is what I always used.
Thank you very much.
Okay, now I understand. That process was faster than mounting the HDD.
It's not bad if Postgres is stored there (on the HDD), right? It's better not to have it on the Raspberry's SD card, which is more fragile.
Thanks so much for your help.
USB storage is not the best, but it's much better than SD, and also much better than network storage
I told you USB to simplify, but what I really have connected is a RAID box with 2 purple WD HDDs of 4TB each, in mirror mode.
sure but I stand by my comment
It's more about the USB connection than what's at the other end of the cable 🙂
I understand you, but unfortunately when using a Raspberry Pi 4, the most I can aspire to is using USB 3.0.
No worries, I'm just giving fair advice not trying to dismiss your setup
you can create an override of your docker.service to add this, so it doesn't start before the usb is mounted
Your advice is really helpful, and I'll probably upgrade to a computer or something more powerful one day that can use SATA hard drives, for example. It's true that I started with this Raspberry Pi idea because the consumption is ridiculous, and the performance is really good.
It's a great idea, but I don't know in which file I should put the commands you tell me, in the fstab?
