Lightweight rain jackets?
Wondering about options for lightweight summer rain jackets. Was looking at Rains but not sure about other brands. Really want something breathable because I often find synthetic materials stifling. Something that can be dressed up or down is good too. Under $400 preferred.

rains is a really great option. they're using a special PU fabric with a nice liner and good venting
also the patagonia torrent shell is pretty breathable
it might help in general to size one up just so its a little more airy
The more water proof it gets, the less airflow it gets from my experience. The Torrent is great at keeping water out though. It has pit zips for some added breathability.
I have an arctyrx softshell that I love also. Very breathable. Works well in a variety of temps. Not quite as waterproof, but does good in lighter rain.
Haven't tried a Rains though, I'll have to check that out.
Outdoor Research’s Foray 3L is pretty light. Their Microgravity Jacket (part of their armed forces collection) is also quite lightweight and breathable.
Their 3L torrentshell is probs the best value for a water proof jacket.
Columbias PFG line is nice
If you want maximum breathability find an old goretex shake dry fabric jacket. Fabric has been phased out due to the pfas ban, so not easy to find new but plenty on the second hand market. They pack tiny, and are very breathable but slightly delicate.
