Crashes
Only Valorant causes my computer to crash. Game runs well for about 5 mins max, then either a blue screen with error WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR or a black screen and computer restarts. Riot Support just keeps telling me these general reinstall Valorant, reinstall Vanguard, and update Windows; all of these have been done 3+ times now with no solution. Can someone please help me out?

@xyrem
to start, what are your specs
cpu, motherboard, gpu, windows version
CPU: AMD Ryzen 3600 6-core
GPU: Radeon RX 580
Motherboard: Gigabyte B450 DS3H WIFI-CF
Windows: Windows 11, Version 23H2
do you know how to get bluescreen dumps?
if so, DM the person i pinged with it
i don't. I am looking on Google.
"To obtain blue screen dumps (also known as crash dumps or memory dumps), you need to configure Windows to save these files when a crash occurs. The location of these dump files is typically in the C:\Windows\Minidump folder, though this can be modified."
I have the Riot Repair Tool which sounds maybe similar to this? I have those logs, not sure if they are in fact similar or not.
well the bluescreen dump should help us, just don't post it here
do you know if small memory dumps are okay or would the 'Kernel memory dump" be better?
Just send whatever dump files were generated, if it’s not enough, he’ll ask you to get complete dump files.
I tried to DM xyrem, but it said I was unable: "Your message could not be delivered. This is usually because you don't share a server with the recipient or the recipient is only accepting direct messages from friends. "
Do you have your dms closed by any chance?
pretty sure they are open
Alright then just wait for xyrem to contact you here
ok, thanks.
anything I should do in the mean time?
Btw they’ve been getting the bsod for a while now
Like couple months I think
Oh
for me valorant ate up all my system memory and then windows asked me to termitate valorant because task manager told me my computer is low on memory
my whole pc would lag, discord would crash and valorant always freezed and crashed after my memory was all full. I have 16GB RAM in total.
how much ram does the game use?
it shouldnt consume more than 3-4gb max
whats Van-81?
i caught it using over 10GB for a second before it compleatly crashed
Wtf
then I think its val and not vanguard
idk man
but i repaired valorant trough the launcher and now it seems okay
idk how long it'll last tho
probably
i have been. it’s been at least half a year at this point. but i have so many hours on valorant prior. i came back from a pretty extended break and then my computer all of the sudden black and sometimes blue screens only with Valorant
i found what looked like to me the blue screen dumps that Space Gecko was talking about
On the bsod screen
Does it specify name of any driver
Vgk sys?
Also you said you reinstalled valorant and vanguard and updated windows.
Have you ever reinstalled windows ever since you started getting the bsod?
yes. i factory reset my PC thinking that would be the fix. when i do get the blue screen rather than black one, it says “WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR” i’m not sure that answered your question or not
Download bluescreen view and check for the file or service which is causing bsod
Also the error u mentioned is related to hardware failure or overheating
on a quick google search i saw hardware too but a lot of people said it was non hardware related things that did to fix it. i have no issues running far more graphic intense games which is the part i dont get. i’ll download bluescreen view and get back.
Yeah bluescreen view will give a better idea
any particular place to download from or all the same?
I'll send link in dms
i downloaded it and have it open right now. there are two blue screen dumps in here but the most recent one is not the most recent blue screen i have gotten... idk if that matters or not]
Just send ss of both
And try to reproduce the bsod again
does it matter if the bluescreenview is open or not? all i have to do is open Val for a few mins
It doesn't matter
@Isabella✨
give the amd drivers
i think it can be that thing
Wot
they have amd hardware
You mean reinstall
yes
But did you check what’s causing it
most prob amd
@Isabella✨
can u?
Yeah wait
We’ll make em use ddu
Would be better
Or do I just send the normal 1
Press windows key
Type installed apps and open it
From there look for AMD software and delete it
After that
https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html
go here^ and download Windows driver
And make sure all drivers are selected during installation
@bryzo
do this
i just uninstalled and reinstalled AMD drivers few days ago.
thats what Riot support told me to do in my ticket with them. still do ?
do again
do what he says like delete the software too
ok sorry for the delay. i have uninstalled and reinstalled AMD drivers again... is next step to just try it?
did this, blue screened, BlueScreenView shows the dump file for it.
What does the blue screen view tell you about the bsod
most probably hardware failure
WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR is a machine check exception, only happens with hardware issues
any way to put a finger on what hardware?
most probably ram
if that doesnt work, then cpu
just get new ram sticks?
take your computer to a repair shop, and let them try with other ram sticks
if that didnt fix it, then you'd need to replace your cpu
how come no other game is affected?
:peeposhrug: you're the only one facing with this which I am aware of
i have my PC doing Windows Memory Diagnostic right now… is this pointless?
give it a try
how come no other game fails and crashes if it were ram though?
I dont know, but its definitely not vanguard related
ok... Windows Memory Diagnotic said no errors were detected
how long does it take for your pc to crash once you start val
anywhere from like 1min to 5mins. i'd say avg like 2min 30sec maybe
I believe this is a faulty hardware
from reading everything here
otherwise we'd see more of this in a larger scale
would you recommend just starting with ram sticks?
It be hard to know where the faulty hardware comes from
But yea you could start with that
Before doing all that just reinstall windows completely with a new partition
i’ve had a ram stick go bad before in my PC, but instead of a game crashing, when I turned my PC on, I would just get no display on a monitor.
so i’m taking out ram sticks right now to check. i took one out and was getting no display and checked. got 2 in that gave me a display. launched val, blue screen crashed. no log in blue screen view though
Did you try removing the 2nd ram stick while leaving the 1st in
so this sounds stupid, ik, but i've had 3 ram sticks for awhile because the 4th one went bad and once i figured out which one it was i just left the other 3. so of the 3, one of them i left n with the other two gave no display. i figured which one and had just the two that were getting displays in together. had display, launched val, still crashed.
any one tell me where to go from here?
should i look into getting a new CPU?
should I consider going back a driver update?
u can try
i fixed it....
out of date BIOS
Nice
Solution
Solution: update bios
