Struggling with L.L Bean Camp Moc fit
Anyone able to weigh in here? I have wide feet, as in every pair of shoes I own is in a wide of some kind. I got the 9 wide camp mocs and they are simultaneously too narrow and too long. If I wear them without socks my heel slips like crazy. If I wear them with socks, they dont slip, but they are still too long and definitely too narrow.
will these stretch? Should I go down half a size? Should I abandon all hope and cry?

Main question would be did you get a D width or a EE width?
Second question do you know your brannock?
I don’t know if it’s helpful, but I can at least attest that these particular shoes ran big for me too. I sized down a half step. (I bought another pair of ll bean shoes in the same size; they were way too small.)
I bought whatever the "wide" option is on the L.L Bean website
Okay it says "EE"
what does too long mean
I mean my foot ends and the shoe continues
I have heel slip to the degree that if I am not wearing socks the shoe will occasionally come off my foot
the way to judge length is to see if the widest part of your foot lines up with the widest part of the shoe. empty space is not a great measure
how broken in is the sole. is the slip purely from sizing.
shoes came in the mail yesterday, worn a few times around the house. So I would imagine the slip is purely from the sizing.
Looking at my foot and the shoe, I'm not sure I can tell, honestly, whether my foots width lines up with the shoes width. My foot at its widest may be slightly underneath where the shoe is at its widest?
Pinch the shoe at its widest
If you pinched the widest part of your foot good job it fits
if it's hurting your feet in that spot it's too narrow
it could be the shape of the last just doesn't work for your foot
so if its hurting my feet in that spot and its too long am I just fucked 😭
the too long thing is a separate issue, it definitely sounds too narrow* unfortunately
ugh, okay. wanted to try out the style for less than Rancourt or Quoddy money.
that's valid
ime leather shoes are always a lil painful at first, but I can't quantify it and tell you how painful it should be
yeah thats kind of where Im struggling. I own a pair of allen edmonds leather sneakers but the break in was minimal. Never owned any leather slip ons before so im unsure how much "it will stretch" is true versus pure copium
I have a pair of camp mocs. Don’t remember them being especially painful, but they are probably a half size too large for me. They’re softer now than any of the leather boots I own for sure.
I would echo getting your brannock size. Even if some shoes run large or small, it’s helpful to have a baseline, and compare other people’s experience with the label size vs brannock size on different brands.
Leather stretches a bit, but IMO, if it’s constricting, it’s never gonna be comfortable. It should be like “I can wear this but I wish it had a smidge more room” not “I hope this gets bigger so my feet can fit”.
