Gold/jewelry guidance
I have been wanting to get a chain that would look good sitting on top of my shirt. I want it to be a cool accessory without looking like too much.
I checked out a few in-person - see example pic. I’m curious if others have thoughts or guidance on ideal lengths/weights and stores. I am based in nyc.
I have also considered whether to go higher carat gold for quality/longevity or get something plated that I can beat and does less wallet damage.
Appreciate any thoughts!

Budget? Tbh lengths and whatnot are down to personal preference. If durability/longevity is a concern, lower karat gold is actually harder & more durable for daily wear
Budget would be $4k max. I’d like to spend less, but am open to investing a bit
Higher karat gold is softer, 14-18k tends to be the standard in the USA, Higher karat jewelry is a lot more popular in Asia so there is 22-24k jewelry out there but it’s A. More expensive obvs and B. way less durable
Yeah at that budget the world's your oyster

Yeah - definitely a ton of options. Does anyone have ideas on what to pursue if looking for lower markups over the price of gold?
