Using distant horizons on "I paid for the whole CPU" gets my processor to 100C

I'm guessing this isn't normal. 🙂 I have a pretty beefy heatsink and am using the I5 13600k. On the "minimal" mode, my CPU averages at like 65C but than when loading in my chunks with the "I paid for the whole CPU" stress mode like I say in the title it goes to 100C! I'm pretty sure I applied the thermal paste correctly. But I don't think it should ever do this.

this is very much normal and dh can't control how much the cpu will heat up, only by taking less threads and the i paid for the whole cpu preset literally takes all of them, so yeah

Well, you are paying for the whole CPU so...

blame intel for 5000gigawatt tdp on their recent i5 class cpus

On a 13600K? Assuming you haven't updated the BIOS to fix 13th and 14th gen... (concern)

Huh?

Yeah you're gonna need a slightly beefier cooler than that if you want to use "I Paid for The Whole CPU" preset.

do you have one you'd recommend? (lga 1700) Dono what this means what's wrong with those generations

13th gen and 14th gen suffers higher than usual rate of degradation, aka failure rate. If you haven't updated the BIOS, I recommend stopping Distant Horizons immediately.

aight i'll look into updating it today

I wouldn't trust running full throttle on any 13th gen CPUs without the updated BIOS to be honest, seeing how bad the situation has to escalate before Intel even consider pushing out BIOS updates to mitigate future potential failures. And as for the already degraded CPUs, well sucks to be the owner of those now-defective CPUs. The damage cannot be undone.

Updating BIOS will reset all the settings so make sure to enable back features like XMP Profile for RAM and Resizable BAR for the GPU Fan speed profiles will also reset And so on Without the bios update it indeed might not be a good idea Though iirc the issue was with voltage and with the voltage on single core or couple core will in theory be higher then with all core as all corr will run lower clocks So it might actually be safer to run all core

aight we be fully updated now my cpu is now at like 70c at minamal inpact but I think I have less stutters= )

at minimal dh will probably be too slow
