file sizes different in icloud than in reality
icloud says i’m using ~300gb for photos. i’ve currently backed up about 10% of them to immich, and immich says i’m already using 171gb (this is NOT a problem with immich, as checking my disk space on my host machine corroborates this). this means that at this rate, i’m due to use about 1.7tb for what’s supposed to be under 300gb. i haven’t uploaded the majority of my biggest photos and videos yet, so it’s not that only the first 10% took up 171gb. is this a bug with icloud, or compression on apple’s servers, or something else?

and df -h
).

- Any other information that you think might be relevant.
Please paste files and logs with proper code formatting, and especially avoid blurry screenshots.
Without the right information we can't work out what the problem is. Help us help you ;)
If this ticket can be closed you can use the /close
command, and re-open it later if needed. Please show how you checked the size of your disk

And what else is on that disk?
nothing
i don’t think this is a problem with immich or my machine though, i think it’s just icloud incorrectly reporting sizes
Please run du -sh /mediapool/*

maybe it’s that the upload folder hasn’t been cleared yet?
still that would be 85gb for 10%
which would be ~850 for the whole library
That’s not the command I said
3 times more than the 280 icloud reports
ah
oh i forgot my samba share is on here too

but even then
thats only 35gb
That’s not adding up
if my photos are 300gb 10% of them should only be 30gb of files in my immuch library
Clearly there’s non immich stuff mixed in
weird
Also you have to account for thumbnail and video encoding
that’s on a different drive
Then you have other things in the drive
weird
that’s all normal

You should use a tool like ncdu to actually figure out what’s going on

ok so there’s something in the root dir
AH
alr i see what happened lmao
thank you
