Brightness stuck at maximum.

Just installed bazzite on my laptop. But the brightness is set to the max no matter how low or high the slider is set. It's fundamentally useful. Any particular way to solve this?

Are you on KDE or Gnome?

GNOME. Sorry for not giving the details. Acer nitro 5, rtx 3070 ti mobile, 32gb RAM, i5-12.

You’re fine! I wish I could help more. I’m familiar with how to do this through ACPI on a traditional system but the atomic file tree might make this harder for me. Can you try running ls /sys/class/backlight/

It says "nvidia_wmi_ec_backlight"

Cool that’s normal. If you run cat /sys/class/backlight/nvidia_wmi_ec_backlight/brightness What value do you get? Try it with the brightness only half turnt up in Gnome

It says 2. At 50% it says 134.

Okay, and so that’s also to be expected because you’re changing your brightness. Good news: your OS is doing what it’s supposed to do. Bad news: Your laptop isn’t. From here there’s probably some Nvidia screwry that I’m going to have to leave to someone else.

Do you know your laptops model number? I want to check it against a list here https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Laptop/Acer
