Farming Simulator 22 - "Online Required: NO" but still refuses to start offline
My firewall blocks apps' internet connections by default, so I'm trying to figure out whether I really need to whitelist this game for single player to work, because Heroic says online is not a requirement.
So when I launch the game through Heroic, it just gets stuck on the loading screen and I see it trying to connect online in my firewall app.
If I check "Run Game Offline" or launch the exe directly, then I get a warning about having to be logged in.
Other games (though not all) work fine without allowing them through the firewall, even some marked as "Online Required: YES" like The Callisto Protocol despite connection attempts, so I wonder what exactly "Online Required" even means.
PCGamingWiki doesn't mention it requiring a constant internet connection to work, only for multiplayer obviously, but I could update it if needed:

welp, looks like the Steam version works offline but the Epic version doesn't according to:

we get the information from the metadata of the game in epic, but that's filled in by a human, it can be wrong
there are also games that say online required: true and then work offline

Fr*cking humans stealing AI's jobs smh my head
but fr though, that was it. I guess this game should be marked as "Online Required: YES" then because it worked as soon as I allowed it through the firewall, and connected to these domains

I guess it's something that could be reported to the developers of that game, but no idea if they would actually update the metadata in epic, who knows

Unsurprisingly, it's not just the first boot that requires internet.
But I managed to block all but the connection which I'm assuming is online DRM.
I just despise software that abuses online permissions to phone home and who knows what, but I guess this is the best compromise.
If only there was a patch to convert to steam version or a certain "alternate" executable/dll to bypass online BS altogether 👀
