Install Bazzite on external internal SSD?
Hey!
I want to install Bazzite, but I want to have it on my brand-new 1TB SSD. My laptop only has 1 SSD slot. If I switch them, there will be no OS on the new one(I think), as it is emptier than my head. Can I install Bazzite on the external while still using the current one, and then clone the drive over, minus windows?
thanks!

this is definitely a stupid question
you don't need an OS to install Bazzite, just prepare a USB beforehand, swap the SSD and install normally
can I just flash it directly to the drive?

No
ah
ok
You can prepare a bootable USB flashdrive and install Bazzite on your new blank SSD.
ok
doing that now
its kinda a shit USB drive

Doesn't matter if it's shit, just make sure when you install to make the installer check for data integrity before installing π
ight
So I basically just open up my laptop, take out the SSD, and put the clean (formatted) one in?
That's basically it.
damn ok
And you can buy a small SSD enclosure (there are cheap ones) so that you can also use the smaller one over USB if you need to.
am using one
the drive has to be formatted before I put it in right?
Then you can swap them π
Nope
ah
Bazzite will handle all of it.
does it matter if it is formatted by windows?
Bazzite will offer you to format it correctly, as Windows partitions won't be useful for installing Bazzite anyway.
great
thanks for the help!
Have fun π
Hardware issue

that screw will not come out
If the screw is stripped, you might have some luck by putting a rubber band (about the width of the screw) between the screw and the screwdriver to unscrew it. That should give it some grip.
Kinda like this

But then you'll likely want to use a new screw before putting the new SSD.
