NiceNano Pins Dying
Hey, I am just wondering if it is just me or do the pins for your NiceNanos also break so often. I have 4 NiceNanos now and on three of them 1 pin is dead. On 2 of them its pin 002 and on the other one its on 113 resulting on one column not working. The last now broke after less than 2 months of use. Could it be that I do something wrong? other that that I love my corne.
Here my graveyard 😦

Hey there! Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your nice!nano pins. It's definitely not a common issue for pins to fail like that, especially on multiple boards.
Since you've had this happen on a few nice!nanos, it's possible there might be something in your build process or setup that could be causing stress on the pins.
A common cause for a column not working is an issue with the solder joint for that specific pin on the nice!nano or the PCB, or potentially a short. You can find which pin corresponds to which row/column in the troubleshooting section of the Corne build guide: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/build-guides/corne-wireless/troubleshooting
The troubleshooting guide also has steps for checking solder joints and looking for shorts: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/troubleshooting/rows-columns-not-working
If you've checked those things and are still having issues, feel free to reply to this message or tag me, and I can try to help you diagnose further!

I think I’m facing a similar issue, although this is on a brand new build and not after a few weeks of wear. I’m 90% sure this is an issue with either my pcb or the nano itself, given I’ve swapped the headers and tried different orientations and the error persists on the same column of keys
Yeah my first one was also broken right out of the box, there the 002 was not working, now its 113
I switch the nanos between the 2 halves and thats why I know the nano and not the pcb is the problem. I also tested the connectivity of the bins with a multimeter and could not find any problem. I dont know if there exist just a drop in board with which the nano could be replaced if it is unreliable.
Is there any history of the no solder headers causing damage to the nano or PCB…? I’ve tried everything I can think short of buying a new nano and / or pcb
@Mike do you have any idea what it could be? apparently multiple people have problems with the nicenano. I tried the troubleshooting steps, but they did not help.
Hey Erik. Sorry to hear about the issues with the nanos. It could be an ESD issue or a soldering issue. Have you reflowed soldering joints on the nano and the PCB? Can you DM your order number to me?
