That is a feature. You're in master control. It's like a motion sensor to change into 1 of 4 aliens.
go into the alien selector, pick an alien (Don't transform), Grey Matter for example, and slide up from the bottom, go back to the lock screen and then press the back button again, then flick your wrist up, and you'll automatically change into Grey Matter.
