mobile app slow
So I just migrated all my photos from Google to self hosted Immich server. I have Galaxy S23 phone and unfortunately when I open Immich app it is pretty slow! I wonder what is happening but it takes almost 2 minutes before the app starts to work fast. I don't think this phone is slow and it's still a pretty recent flagship device.
Before I was used to use Google Photos almost exclusively and never needed to open Samsung gallery, when I wanted to quickly check the recent photos or send/show it to someone. It opened fast and was immediately ready. If Immich behaves this way then I am afraid I will have to use gallery as I really don't want to wait 2 minutes before it's usable. Seems like around 30seconds there is a big network activity (you can see the number in top left corner). Is there any settings I can change so it doesn't do whatever it does? I am afraid this activity probably also drains the battery if CPU is really busy with something. I have 134 730 media files in this account (11 340 backed up from the device), so is it too many maybe?
Interestingly on my other phone Galaxy S10 which I am using for some experiments this problem does not happen and the app is responsive immediately! There is only 7704 media files in that other account and it's all backed up from the phone.

- Logs from all the containers and their status (see above).
- All the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.
- Any recent changes you've made to Immich or your system.
- Details about your system (both software/OS and hardware).
- Details about your storage (filesystems, type of disks, output of commands like fdisk -l
and df -h
).
- The version of the Immich server, mobile app, and other relevant pieces.
- Any other information that you think might be relevant.
Please paste files and logs with proper code formatting, and especially avoid blurry screenshots.
Without the right information we can't work out what the problem is. Help us help you ;)

The team is working very hard right now on getting everything off the main render thread which is causing the very slow load times and some general lagginess. They are making great progress right now but not a while lot to do currently. You can see Alex's note here about performance gains they are working on: https://discord.com/channels/979116623879368755/994044917355663450/1373019131279839302
so consider this as an input for troubleshooting. Is it related to number of assets? Seems like it is.
Also I wonder why are there these messages in log about changes in album being synced when there were no changes?
Number of assets and albums are the two big contributors
So I just started Immich on my phone while waiting for a tram to come and I was waiting around 3 minutes before it even showed the few photos and videos I took with my phone today! Network speed app claims Immich used 344MB during this loading. For what I am asking? This is simply crazy!
Sorry, not much else I can tell you right now. Mobile apps slowness is known and is a priority. You're free to not use it and check back in a bit when hopefully it has been addressed but not much to do right now.
If I have foreground backup enabled. Does it mean it happens over mobile data even if the next checkbox "only on wifi" is enabled?
When I open the app
It shouldn't, no
my undestanding is the "only on wifi" checkbox is for background service only...
You also have to consider your hardware on the server, how much it can process all your files, could also be the problem.
there is no processing needed. All tasks are done. That's what I am wondering - what the heck is happening and why is it so busy processing what exactly? I just want to see the few photos I took today
