RDR2 – Rockstar Launcher Crashes Instantly (Used GitHub Fix Guide)
Platform: Steam Deck
Heroic Version: [2.16.1]
Game: Red Dead Redemption 2 (Epic Games purchased)
Proton Version: GE-Proton 10.1
Using Flatpak: Yes
I’m trying to launch Red Dead Redemption 2 via Heroic on Steam Deck (using the Epic Games version). I followed the exact steps mentioned in the GitHub guide of RDR2 game page :
• Placed the custom EpicGamesLauncher.exe next to PlayRDR2.exe
• Created a fix.bat file with:
start "" EpicGamesLauncher.exe PlayRDR2.exe %*
• Set Heroic to launch this .bat as the alternative EXE
However, when I launch the game:
• Rockstar Launcher does not appear
• Instead, a dialog box flashes for half a second, then closes
• Game doesn’t start and no error message is shown
