No visuals for Anno 1404 on mac
Starting the game works. I have the game's cursor and the sound. But no picture! Other tips for Heroic tell me to meddle with the " DXSETUP.exe" by "Run EXE on Prefix" but I dont find it on mac and honestly dont know what I am doing in general....
Please explain like I am 5 years old since i REALLY suck with computer stuff and english aint my native language lol.
Using a mac btw...

Under winetricks there is only „zenity not installed“
Ah I see I can search it doing it rn
It wants "install command line developer tools" asking me to accept license for those command tools. I am uncertain if this doesnt nuke my laptop or something tbh lol

well i really dont like installing the howbrew stuff. i also tried to work things out over at porting kit where i got an error about not finding an URL: will wait the help search out before continuing with homebrew.

no, not at all really
winetricks on macos requires some dependencies that macos just doesnt come with
and you have to install yourself using homebrew

UPDATE: IT SEEMS TO WORK ONCE I DOWNLOADED HOMEBREW!! I dont know how, I dont know for how long, but downloading homebrew by following the terminal instructions and then switching in the heroic launcher to use Win Crossover made the cut!

Nevermind i tried starting the base game (not the dlc since in the base game is the free play option) and same issue.....black screen and audio. Aaaaand now it just crashes.

Alright so it works, let me break down how:
1. install the game via Heroic
2.start the BASE GAME for free mode, do NOT start Venice edition
3.It will start without visuals but with audio
4.close game
5.switch porting kit latest as wine version
6.delete prefix
7. launch again (won’t work)
8.switch to crossover
9. run Homebrew on terminal
(Optional: 10. sacrifice your firstborn.)
11.By some ancient magic, it works. I won’t touch it ever again and just launch and pray. Thank for beeing with me ppl

I wonder why just installing homebrew worked
because that means you didn’t brew install the winetricks packages and that also means winetricks doesn’t apply it’s automatic fixes
so it’s just, doing it’s thing, somehow(???)

i believe installing Homebrew also installs Xcode, which may come with some relevant libraries.
