How do you know what to watch in sub or dub?

There are some anime I can do in sub, dub or even both. Here are some examples. Sub - My Hero Academia, Komi Can't Communicate, Danmachi Dub - Lazarus, Wind Breaker, Kaiju No. 8, Dandadan, Sakamoto Days, Solo Leveling Both - Dragon Ball, One Punch Man, Tomo-chan is a Girl Can't decide - One Piece, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen (Maybe someone can make a suggestion) Certain isekai, magic or even music titles, it just depends. Most sports titles might be better in sub. So maybe list some shows you'd recommend, maybe I've seen them. And tell me how you choose between sub and dub for them.

i think the only anime i've watched / can watch in DUB is SAO, Pokemon and Solo Levelling if anything i'd recommend watching 1 ep either way and seeing which voices you prefer. Some DUB is Horrendous for anime, but then the sub is perfectly fine, very weird :Tohru_shrug: Haikyuu had a decent Dub from what i heard about it though :cat_dance:

It very much depends I like dub for its simplicity sake and its easier to watch how ever I perfer dub for a lot of anime because dub sometimes either doesn’t follow original message or it just SUCKS However there are some dubs that are better Tbh the solo leveling dub is better More effort into it Sounds better and more accurate the original manwha

It’s funnier in dub Also ghost story’s dub is better

Kaguya as in Love is War? I'll have to add that to the watch list. And there's plenty of others I line the sub just a bit more

Watch the dub honestly it’s more fitting The voices just make more sence To the character And the narrator is funny

In that case I'll have to rewatch the first episodes of Demon Slayer and JJK

it's very much just personal preferece tbh :Tohru_shrug: see how you feel and what "feels right" when ya watch it

I typically judge a dub or sub based on things that makes sence Like if the character fits the voice I don’t like some dubs because of that This is the best option

Now One Piece has been wild for me. May as well drop the fillers. But even though I've seen the start of the anime to just before Dressrosa in sub I still watched the post time skip up to the end of Dressrosa in dub. Didn't even watch all of the pre time skip dubbed. Guess I forgot to mention that. But sometimes I hear a dub and think how the sub did it better or a dub has a line that makes it really good

It depends It’s kinda like the dragon ball sub vs dub I like diffrent parts in sub vs dub

Like how the Super dub didn't need to add a word to Goku's new form. But that's probably my only gripe with the dub. Or how Buu sounds completely different in sub. Some of the sub voices are that good

In all honesty I don’t like Goku sub voice

i can't see that thread helryk. also i pick what to watch based on what voices sound better to me and/or if dub is more convenient at the time. usually i leave an anime on dub so i can do something else and listen to it but if the dub voices are annoying then i hold off until i can have time to sit down and watch sub. some sub voices i dislike tho, much love to the original voice actors and all but sometimes i'm just not with it y'feel? and yeah i agree with cayden i dislike goku's sub voice. respect the va but don't like the voice

I just always watch sub. Well, I also watched raw in some cases.

It’s really all a matter of preference

i watched most anime i've seen sub but recently i started watching more dub since anime is more a time waster/thing i take interest in to pass time rather than take active interest in so like i said, i can leave it on in the background and listen. a big reason is since i like manga more and reading keeps me more engaged anyways

I have a basic understanding of Japanese not well however it does help I watch dub because it’s easier However sub is better 6/10 times I can’t watch a Chinese anime to save my life

i don't know any japanese besides some kanji which just happens to alao be chinese characters. i'm just a fast reader so when i watch sub i can just quickly scan the translations on screen in less than a second before watching the actual animation

I subconsciously understand it I can’t speak it Nor can I tell you about it I just kinda understand it

Yes, I have seen Wistoria in both but might stick with the dub too Well the one sub or dub choice that's the most difficult for me is One Piece. I mentioned my time trying to decide earlier but I guess I could repost that progress. Demon Slayer, maybe dub. Still not sure on JJK That might be how I handle the One Piece dub. May have to rewatch Punk Hazard and Dressrosa before the next major arc. But in the dub I didn't even sit through Amazon Lily up until after Marineford. Not sure where to pick up from
