please roast my MTM suit plans

I want to get a suit from Suit Supply that I can wear for fun when I go out (with loafers/casual shirt), but that -- secondarily -- can also double as a suit for occasions that require formal wear (funerals/weddings, will happen very rarely), where I want to dress it up with oxfords/white shirt/tie. I'd buy this berg&berg suit, but I can't mix/match sizes, so I'm going MTM with a very similar fabric. I'd also like it to look a touch more relaxed. I have pretty wide shoulders (54 is sometimes tight), with a 6in drop to my waist. My plan: - Take unconstructed shoulders (to avoid a blocky/footballer look) and make sure they aren't too narrow - Make the lapels as wide as possible (I just think that looks cool, does that work well with my body type?) - I'll make sure they pay attention to the arm holes (make them relatively narrow) and don't go too narrow in the waist, for a relaxed fit - Go for a relaxed, high-waist trouser with single pleats - Should I consider patch pockets? Does this plan make sense? Any other things I should pay attention to?

With a 6 inch drop you're very much in the range for absolutely normal off the rack suiting unless there's another fit issue you're looking to solve? I can't see that many MTM manufacturers are going to enable you to make many/any changes to lapel width and armholes as that might entail fairly large changes to the block pattern they're working from.

yes, I'm mostly going MTM for the fabric. lapel width is a customization option that suit supply offers. suit supply MTM is pretty affordable (e.g. 1/2 of berg&berg OTR), and I heard the quality isn't terrible. would you recommend looking into a different offer?

Suit supply mtm is decent for the price afaik and if it's got a fabric you particularly want and can't get OTR then it's not going to be a bad option.

Sounds like a good plan. I really like patch pockets and I have them on all my MTM suits. I say go for it.

ngl you might be able to tailor the berg&berg suit to fit you. I'd just stay as close to whatever block pattern/base style you want from SuSu
