Nvidia drivers and GRUB menu
Hi I installed Bazzaite KDE on my dekstop.
I chooses Nvidia edition and installed on new SSD. After installation I realized I don't have GPU drivers (gtx 1070) is it normal after installation?
Yesterday I got banned on r/Bazzite for asking about kernel copies on GRUB menu. Admin told me this issue doesn't exist in Bazzite.
Now I have two copies and I don't like it. Can I delete them? I don't wanna see 6 copies on my PC

You're on the wrong branch for the 1070. You will need to rebase to bazzite-nvidia
As far as the grub menu goes, this will show the available images to boot into, so it will be 2 + any version you pin afaik. If you don't want to see it, you can set it to hide.
So what I can do on this situation?
Can I manually install correct drivers?
Do Bazzite downloaded wrong driver packages?
You picked the wrong option when you downloaded bazzite, but this can be fixed easily by rebasing. https://docs.bazzite.gg/Installing_and_Managing_Software/Updates_Rollbacks_and_Rebasing/rebase_guide/
Rebase Guide - Bazzite Documentation
Bazzite is a custom image built upon Fedora Atomic Desktops that brings the best of Linux gaming to all of your devices.
How I can check what version do I need?
I have:
How do I swap between Bazzite (and other Fedora Atomic Desktop) images?¶
See what channel or build you are on by entering this command in a host terminal:
rpm-ostree status
Check under "Deployments:" and the output should be similar to:
● ostree-image-signed:docker://ghcr.io/ublue-os/[image]:[channel]
Switch to another Bazzite variant by entering the command for each specific image.
Open the terminal and enter:
rpm-ostree rebase <image>
Example:¶
rpm-ostree rebase ostree-image-signed:docker://ghcr.io/ublue-os/bazzite-deck:stable
For rebasing to the generic KDE Plasma version of the Handheld & HTPC image.
is it possible to install these drivers manually?
for 1070 you need bazzite-nvidia:stable. you now have the -open which only works for newer nvidia cards.
You can't install them manually on bazzite no.
Okay okay
it's my first user friendly distro
no worries. It takes some getting used to the atomic desktop ways. Also takes away a lot of headaches 😄
rmp-ostree rebase <where I can find other... Bazzite Versions?> I wanna keep Plazma DE
other bases? Is it what it means?
kde is the standard, so if the image name doesn't have gnome on it, it's the right one. rebasing is "installing" a new base system. An atomic distro is basically an image of a base linux install to further install things to.
for you to rebase to the image you need, you just need to use what
rpm-ostree status
lists, but remove the -openSo I need to type i terminal:
Right?
looks right yeah
bash: rmp-ostree: command not found
rpm* 🙂
well if something went wrong, it's all on separate ssd

If something goes wrong, you can boot into the previous deployment in grub. That's why you'll always have at least 2 grub entries
System rebooted now I’m updating system packages

What about games, Processing Vulcan Shaders one again
You can safely skip that for the vast majority of games
I don’t wanna test it on Valve’s games
Thank you for help 🙂
