Recommendation for hosting 100 players on the same world at one time.
Loooking for recommendations for achieving this. Having a bungee cord hub with different servers is not really an option with what gameplay we are looking to achieve.
Current server specs is Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor 3.6Ghz 24Gb ram. Struggling a lot. Have paper. Ran Sparks and no easy fixes. Tried to optimise best i can. Is this just asking too much?
Any advice appreciated.

Its really bad if you’re hosting a server of that scale on a 3700x
Whats your budget
I’ll suggest a host & a plan depending on it
OR
Hmm, send me the following
Server Software
Daily Average
World Size
Game Mode
Let see what can be done here
Running paper 1.21.4
Average about 100 peaked at 170 today.

Got a decent budget. Been looking at getting a dedicated on hetzner
Don’t go with hetzner
But unsure if we are just pushing too much out of a Minecraft paper server
Anyone can simply take your server down
They claim they have ddos protection . Is that not the case
Seem highly recommended online for their dedicated severs
Hetnzer claims that?
Can you show me a link where hetzner says that?
https://www.hetzner.com/unternehmen/ddos-schutz
Not had a all full look at the t and c’s
I thought it woukd be pretty standard for a provider that large
Looking online I see the complaints tho
What would you recommend ?
Give me a bit and i’ll get back to you. Till then for minecraft specific host recommendations from me check out https://micheal.cc/hosting-providers
Micheal Services

Though names like pufferfish in my list 🐡 might be expensive for some. But dw, i’ll get back to ya about the hetzner dedi too
Hetzner’s ddos protection isn’t what you need for a minecraft server.
See instead of having a DDos mitigation that spreads the traffic out and slows it down what hetzner does is it observes for a few seconds, detects a bot and then kicks in.
What does it mean for your mc server? The second someone attacks you, your service goes down. Your connections drop and your server essentially crashes
Thats why anyone that uses hetzner for minecraft servers, also gets external protection like TCPShield but that alone would cost you 140$
You think a reyzen 9 7950x would cut it
What provider
Self hair
Host
Self hosted? In a DC? Or co-located?
Or are you planning on running it straight from your home IP
Which i won’t recommend for a public server
btw pufferfish uses cosmicguard which is ridiculously bad
They don’t
They have their own native protection
Honestly not too sure . Have a friend who could lend me a server with that processor . But honestly I would rather not self host it’s a project I may not be involved with long term
@Kevin
Do you have any specific recommendations
For providers. I looked at the pufferfish but it does see a little expensive compared to competitors
Okay, they've moved over to datacamp

Like you think i would recommend a host to hundreds of clients without knowing about the provider?
Anyhow
Idk really, a lot of people do))
I run a registered business with hundreds of clients, i can’t afford to make such stupid decisions
I do like servcity
Bad for business
They are in my recommendations too.
Eric and poncho are friends of mine
Also a bit off topic. What’s the thoughts on folia instead of regular paper ?

If you know what are you doing then use it
But it is ALOT more complex
Not in Ashburn
Don’t. You’d need to spend hundreds porting all plugins
Which is our flagship location
I mean you could, but it’ll be expensive
Alright . Might just try split the server into two smaller ones I guess
Whats your budget around?
You never mentioned, thats why i couldn’t recommend a server for you
Max 150
US
USD?
Yeah
Alright, give me a minute
But honestly would rather closer around the 100 side. It’s a hobby server .
EU?
Preferably east coast US
But could do EU
Biggest concern is upgrading and still need to end up splitting the sever up
So NYC would be your desired location?
I guess or anywhere east
Can i hit your dms?
Sure
Texted ya, whenever you’re free check up on it
DMs because he’s gonna shill his host to you
Don’t own servcity. Wish i did
Isn’t servcity EU?
And also, you were the first provider I recommended
So shutup
Lol
lol
I own servcity. So u don’t even start
:sus:
Ignore this
