Reliable Buffer Overflow Woes

We have a dedicated server that's been working pretty well, even with mods. However, I've started getting the "Reliable Buffer Overflow" error, while my other two friends can connect without problems. No mod changes were made before this problem started. We were able to fix this once by unloading all the mods, loading into the game, and then re-enabling the mods. Unfortunately, this isn't a great fix, since we have to replace all of our modded buildings, and the issue reoccurred after a few hours. I am able to load into the save locally, so I tried to make a local save and upload it, but I get the same error when joining. The logs say reliable buffer overflow, but we have the Reliable Buffer Overflow fix installed already. We don't have an older save to try and recover, I've verified game files, and we've verified that the other players can connect to the server without issue.

Something is causing the replication reliable buffer to be overburdened, causing you to be disconnected! This crash tends to happen when joining a multiplayer game with a lot of content. It can sometimes take a while, ex. a certain number of buildings placed or schematics to be unlocked, for the problem to actually appear. Try the following: - Installing the "Fix Reliable Buffer Overflow" mod created by the SML team to mitigate one of the most common causes of this crash - Removing mods that introduce lots of recipes or schematics (HUB/MAM/shop unlocks) or Mod Savegame Settings. -# Rule logic: https://regex101.com/r/MXqmd4/

For added clarification, we're already using the Fix Reliable Buffer Overflow mod, and the other two players on the server can connect without issue. For some reason, I specifically get the RBO problem. We're looking at troubleshooting specific mods perhaps this weekend.

I'm not aware of any other way to fix the issue immediately. However, 1.1 solves this issue permanently, so you may just need to wait until mods are updated when 1.1 comes to the Stable branch on June 10th.

If you can't wait 'til 1.1 mod support, the second bullet point will indeed have to be the way to go
Removing mods that introduce lots of recipes or schematics (HUB/MAM/shop unlocks) or Mod Savegame Settings.

Yeah, we are thinking about narrowing it down to see if a single mod is responsible. It's just odd, because it will work for a few hours (after resetting mods), then I'll get disconnected and stuck in RBO limbo

From what I understand, schematics aren't the only thing which can cause RBOs, but you do have a lot of schematic-heavy mods installed (SS, more decorations, etc) but I think the RBOFix mod mostly deals with schematics, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ >debugmods This may help, but it's most likely a combination of mods causing this issue, which makes it way harder to track down

Follow this flowchart to troubleshoot issues caused by mods (crashes, unexpected behavior, etc.). More information can be found on the docs: https://docs.ficsit.app/satisfactory-modding/latest/faq.html#_how_can_i_troubleshoot_crash_issues

yeah, we're decorators, so we have a lot of architecture mods. Might just roll back the architecture mods a bit, at least until 1.1 mod support comes. Just wanted to get an expert opinion before getting into the weeds and all. Thanks for the help!

We've disables a lot of the schmatic-heavy mods, and I appear to be having the same issue. I'm attaching the server log from the last few attempts, which take place in the last 50 lines or so.

Wait it's happening in the player state? That seems odd
davmandave
davmandaveOP6d ago
Yeah, the RBO comes in in the first second of the orange loading screen, rather than the 10ish seconds it usually takes Is there a way to clear the player state from console or anything?

It happening in the player state isn't indicating a problem with the player state. That's just the straw that broke the camel's back
davmandave
davmandaveOP5d ago
But it would make sense for it to be player state, as I'm the only player that can't load into the server. Are there other factors that would be player specific?

Have you tried getting one of the other players to kill your character while you're logged out & then respawning in afterwards? Sometimes this can help, anything you were carrying will be put into a respawn chest & then put into a storage chest for you to grab when you can get back into the game 🙂

Network connection Player state is separate from the player pawn but killing the pawn is still worth a shot

We did try that before and it didn't seem to help. We've rolled back to a handful of mods and I seem to be able to rejoin again, so we'll see if it sticks It's interesting, though, because we scaled down the number of mods before, which worked for about an hour before I got disconnected and couldn't rejoin
