I9 14900K or Ryzen 9 9950X ?
I asked my current host, who offers a dedicated server with a Ryzen 9 9950X, if they had servers with the latest Intel, to which they replied: “This processor is not the most powerful on the market. It's far surpassed by our Ryzen 9 series. What's more, this generation of processor has only 8 cores and 8 “performance” threads, unlike our Ryzens, which offer 12/24 or 16/32.
These processors don't handle workloads as effectively as the Ryzens.”
What do you think?

What he says about the i9 14th gen isn't exactly correct, but I would take a 9950x over the i9 14th gen anyway especially if you know that you will be using the entire CPU not only half of it (aka the 16 performance threads).

Personally, it would be for a few large servers, rather than using all the cores. Intel's single-core frequency is higher, and I wonder what my host means by “Ryzen handles the work better
Im pretty sure the 9950x has higher single thread performance anyways, btw when you asked him for the latest intel, how did you end up talking about the 14900k?
I just saw that I was mistaken, it's the I9 14900KS I was talking about, which is indeed superior, 6.2ghz in turbo, but no host currently offers it, just the simple K. So yes, the Ryzen 9 9950X is the most powerful at the moment. But in general, without talking specifically about these two processors, is AMD superior to Intel when it comes to hosting video games?
Yes
higher turbo or ghz doesnt mean its better
comparing ghz is a myth
indeed superior 6.2ghz turboKeep in mind that that is only like 2 threads the rest of the performance threads will probably be running at about 6ghz and the other half of efficiency threads will be a lot slower
So what really matters? The way AMD handles tasks?
IPC
high ghz with low ipc is worse than low ghz high ipc
Ok! Thank you both very much
I should also mention, in a server environment, it's extremely hard to cool an i9-14900k
