Distant horizons loading, but horizons arent distant
Can anyone explain how distant horizons works? At first I thought it did it by itself, so i let it run for half an hour only to see nothing really happened. Then I saw i needed to get chunky. I used chunky, used some fat radius took about 2 hours to load. Then i turned on distand horizons and it just looked like normal minecraft. All i know is now im missing a couple gigabites of storage and my horizons arent any more distant. What should I do to get that nice cinematic background u see on those youtube videos? Is there a faster way or is this really all I can do

How far you've generated with Chunky?
I did /chunky radius 256c
Using Chunky to pregenerate for DH is not recommended for several reasons. The first one is the swiss cheese that might show up when using chunky while DH is installed. The second reason is that it's pointless, as DH has a build in pregenerator that is better integrated than chunky:
- It saves space by only storing LODs, not normal chunks
- It is faster to use DH's pregenerator to generate the LODs than first using chunky to generate the normal chunks, and then using DH to convert the normal chunks to LODs
- It is part of DH, and therefore always/only called when DH needs it
- Chunky calculates it's radius in blocks, confusing the user if they are not aware of this
Distant Horizons' built-in LOD pregenerator is enabled by default, and can be sped up or slowed down by changing the
Cpu Load
in DH's settings, or disabled by turning off Distant Generation.
If you want to pregenerate both LODs and normal chunks, set the Distance Generator Mode to Internal Server
under Advanced, World Generator. This will of course take up quite a lot more storage space. Make sure you have C2ME installed if you want to use Internal Server, as the generation speed will be crap if you don't.
Note, this also applied to other similar pregeneration mods.:cou:
Accidental (likely warranted) command trigger.
Anyways, what CPU you have?
Assuming you have anything modern such as Intel 12th gen or AMD 5000 series, it should take around 15 to 20 minutes for the full 256 chunks to finish generate all the LODs.
I have an i5 6500

30+ minutes it is.
Ok but am i doing it right?
Well, using Chunky is ill-advised as per the bot response.
In the event that you want the physical chunks to be saved as well, switching the generator mode to Internal Server and have Concurrent Chunk Management Engine mod installed, it should be on-par with using Chunky for pregen and Distant Horizons generating LODs.
So you mean if i want to go back to the world, and not have to wait for distant horizons to run, I should do that?
Uh maybe? Distant Horizons always runs in the background.
Ok cool cool so I change gen mode, and use that mod. and im fine?
Should be, yes.
Thanks bro
what do you think

I'm seeing LODs being rendered, so I guess it's working. Still haven't reached 256 chunks away yet so, still need more time waiting.
Ive been looking for the internal server thing. Where is it? Also how should I stop generating chunks without turning off distant horizons because i still want to see the distnat horizons, but i dont want to load anymore chunks
Generator mode is in the advanced setting > LOD Building (if I recall).
And as to stop the chunk generation, simply switch back the generation mode from Internal Server to Features.
Hey bro , just got around to doing this again. This is whats currently happening
I think im still doing something wrong,
What is your cpu? Can you try a higher cpu load preset in DH's settings? How much ram have you allocated to Minecraft?
