[2021-11-28 12:08:05 PM] : Jason Tu i try to email my list about once a week. i very rarely get any sort of feedback unless i ask for it. for a proxy i go by open rates + unsubscribe rates.
the way i think about it is this: when i launch a product, my main avenue for letting people know about my product and making sales is via email. it’s the only channel that i really control, in a way that’s not true of e.g. twitter or youtube or anything else. so it’s really important to me to keep my email list warm and foster a good relationship with the people on my email list. all my other activities - blogging, my podcast, youtube, twitter, etc. - exist in order to get people onto my email list so that i can launch to my email list.
i didn’t have a super focused point with all the above but that’s how i think about email if it helps. in summary, i consider it the most important thing.
