[2021-12-21 09:02:33 AM] : Stats • Started with 900 subscribers, will end with ~1300 • Published 17 ebombs • Sold 232 ebooks (~6.000$) • Got to talk at 4 (remote) conferences, related to that content • Organized 4 small (remote) conferences on the topic of Legacy Code What went well I kept on publishing ebomb at a regular pace, I'm happy about that! I published my first ebook and started to earn revenue from a source that's not my employer, which was my 2021 objective and felt great! The product worked better than I aimed for (I wanted this to cover the price of 30x500 that I paid in 2020, it did 3 times that). I discovered new people and learn new tools/techniques on the pain I'm addressing. This is great because it's a pain I'm dealing with myself (I'm part of my own audience). So just that is a daily win. I got in touch with people I admire, and even got reached out by an expert I'm following who told me that they were admiring my work. They ask for advice. That was gold :sports_medal: What could be improved After I launched the ebook, I struggled to keep publishing ebombs at a stable rythm. I think it's related to a combination of: • I reached my goal and didn't really thought about "what's next" yet • I needed a break and didn't anticipated it • Personal changes that made it harder to keep my habits going (was hard to find a stable moment each day to write) There are a few things I think would improve my work (e.g. content mixtapes, better CTAs, lead magnets) but I didn't took the time to work on them. Goals for next year I started working on the next step: a course. I will launch it in February 2022. For the moment, all my efforts are focused on that. Content wise, I have some backlog ready. I also take some of the content I'm building to share with my audience. I announced the product a few weeks ago and got some excitment from my audience, so that's cool! After the course is released, I plan to: • Spend some time on the follow-up. Realistically, I'll have to scope down the content to preserve my launch date. If so, I'll ship new modules and do multiple launches in 2022. • Remix some past content and prepare a backlog so I can take a few weeks break during summer time. • Focus on optimizing what I have (e.g. content mixtapes and the other things I didn't tackle yet) I don't have a specific $ goal for 2022. What I'd like is to have a bigger weekly stream of side revenues (today it's ~100$ / week). In 1 year, I'd like to start thinking about having some SaaS revenues. I'm thinking a lot about sponsorware via GitHub as a way for people to access the content I produce. I'd like to give out free tools, but get paid for the knowledge/training around using them to address the pain they are aimed towards.
