Has anyone worked wi
[2022-01-20 12:47:39 PM] : Has anyone worked with a logo designer you loved? Right now, I'm looking through fiverr, and I'm thinking of paying several people and see what I get.

For a logo I’d be wary tbh. There are a bunch of v v common base designs that tend to get churned out. You might get something you like for free with one of the online apps. Like this one https://www.logodesign.net/logos
[2022-01-20 01:22:55 PM] : Thanks. In my case, I have a specific vision in mind, and I don't think a generic logo creator can help.
[2022-01-20 01:24:30 PM] : my most successful projects on the low budget freelance sites have worked because I had a VERY clear specification, and put the work into describing it.
[2022-01-20 01:27:38 PM] : for visual stuff, def worth taking the time to look at the example work people have posted, too.
[2022-01-20 01:28:21 PM] : I have worked with some logo designers I love, but they typically are working as part of a bigger design guide/branding package to provide a coherant logo, color palette, font choices, etc.
[2022-01-20 01:38:23 PM] : similarly to alex, I find the hardest part of commissioning designs is actually knowing what I want
[2022-01-20 01:42:07 PM] : often I get a draft back from a designer and I want it to be different, but I can't explain would want to change
[2022-01-20 01:43:30 PM] : i just went through this with a more complex workbook design. was so frustrating.
[2022-01-20 01:43:51 PM] : we wasted a lot of time on revisions before i figured out that he was designing it to be like a magazine, instead of a workbook.
[2022-01-20 01:44:11 PM] : having examples of stuff I like, even if I can't say why, has proven helpful
[2022-01-20 02:01:19 PM] : yeah, I agree with all the above. I'm definitely looking at their previous work to see if it matches the aesthetic I have in mind.
[2022-01-20 02:05:25 PM] : I think it should be fairly straightforward. My product is a script that makes it easy to set up a Ruby dev environment on a Mac. This is a huge pain point, and from the feedback I've gotten, nothing else people have tried worked.
I've decided to call it Ruby on Mac, and for the logo, my idea is to combine a Ruby logo (not necessarily the official one) with the bite from the Apple logo.
[2022-01-23 04:40:21 PM] : I have done this in the past for relatively simplistic designs. If I recall correctly, I started with like 8 designers that looked promising, then I verified with all that I could start with their cheaper package (like $5-10, often jpg or png only) and upgrade to a more complete package with vector files etc if I was happy with it. I think I ended up buying vectors etc for 2 of 8 designs.
[2022-01-23 04:41:28 PM] : Granted I was doing a very simplistic design. Something more complex may start with a lower base price making this harder to do.
[2022-01-27 10:41:11 AM] : I got a bunch of concepts that were not what I had in mind, but this one is pretty close. What do y'all think? Maybe the curve can be bigger/deeper? [File hidden by Slack limit]
