There are reasons to not do it. Net, they cancel each other out. Doing it or not doing it are unlikely to significantly impact your success in the long run.
IF you decide to do it:
• have a good reason other than "other people do it"
• do not waste time on the decision
• use the tips in my article to minimize the downsides
• get back to work that matters as quickly as possible
