[2022-06-09 05:47:50 PM] : I had a similar problem in the past and have so many thoughts on this. 1. Tons of courses out there offer no videos or limited videos and are extremely successful 2. I think you're limiting yourself on what's possible. Creators don't just have courses/books. They also have templates, tools, resources, services, coaching, CBCs, community, and so much more. I'd ask yourself what would I make if I couldn't make a book or a self-paced video course? 3. I also think you should consider sizing. Instead of a bunch of videos making up a course, what could you do with a single 30-minute video that can then be offered as a mini course? Take baby steps instead of trying to leap over mountains. I completely understand your position on video courses. I also struggle with making videos. I've done a lot of work to rein in my perfectionism when it comes to writing, but it hasn't reached video creation yet. Here's how I approached it: 1. Last year, I figured out that I can teach well on live zoom calls. It's only when I record by myself that I have an issue. So I created a CBC version of my course. All teaching was done live. Received rave reviews plus forced me to create the course structure. Also, taught me I hate teaching CBCs because as a super introvert, I find them exhausting. Still would do it again bc it's one more baby step towards my journey. 2. Next, in February I created a mini-course. I procrastinated for a while. Then, I bought a teleprompter and wrote a script and got the 30-minute video done in one sitting. Now I know how to get myself to do recorded content. 3. I took a bunch of online courses over the past 1.5 years to get a feel for how others are structuring their courses. After every single one, I wrote down what I liked/disliked as a student and what I would like/dislike as an instructor of that course type.

Marie Poulin's Notion Mastery really spoke to me because all of her course lessons are in written form, but then she has regular live office hours for questions, additional lessons, and guest speakers. She records those and then includes them to all course participants. 4. So now I'm proceeding with converting my original CBC into this method with a few tweaks from other courses I liked. I'm still on this journey but making steady progress. Apologies for the wall of text. TLDR: Broaden your view of what's possible, experiment, and give yourself constraints so you're taking tiny leaps instead of mountain jumps

[2022-06-10 08:51:22 AM] : Marissa Goldberg what does "CBC" stand for here? [2022-06-10 11:15:19 AM] : Hey Daniel, sorry, should have listed that out. It's "cohort-based course". Basically, live virtual courses that only happen certain times of the year. [2022-06-10 11:27:59 AM] : Thank you! I kept coming up with absolutely wrong guesses as to what it might stand for :joy: [2022-06-10 11:28:34 AM] : There's way too many abbreviations to keep up with  [2022-06-21 10:10:25 PM] : LOL thanks for asking the question Daniel Beck I am doing a cohort-based course and didn't know what CBC mean :joy:
